Maysa
(
Moniet El Sharaf x *Magidaa )
1983 - Dark chestnut mare

Born in
June 1983, this gorgeous dark chestnut mare is truly an icon at
our farm. Out of one of the most influential "Alaa El Din"
daughters "*Magidaa"
- Maysa is one of the last living daughters carrying on her
dam's bloodline. She is a big, typey mare, with a powerful
trot and a high tail carriage. Maysa has won many trophies
in her show career in almost every available category from
English Pleasure to Native Costume. She is wonderful to handle
and a pleasure to have at our farm. We are truly blessed to
have her.

We
purchased Maysa in the spring of 1996 from Bryant Arabians in
Grass Valley, California. She was in foal to "Al Hadiyyah"
and gave us a colt in 1997. In 1998 she was bred to "BB thee
Renegade" and in 1999 she foaled "Bint Maysa KA" - a very
typey chestnut filly. "Bint Maysa KA" was Reserve Futurity
Champion as a yearling and won the Most Classic Head title in
2004 at the Egyptian Event in Kentucky.
In 2000,
she was bred to "Farres" and foaled "Safir
KA" in 2001 who was sold to Texas.
At Bryant
Arabians she foaled "Montasir", a grey colt, who was sold to
Egypt, and "Moniet Hadiyya" who was sold to Chile. She
also gave Bryant Arabians the beautiful "Morafica".
Over the
past couple of years we have tried desperately to get her in
foal. Unfortunately she developed Cushings disease and a tumor
on her left ovary. In 2004 we sent Maysa to the University of
Saskatoon and had to remove her left ovary. She was at the
Clinic for seven months and every attempt was made to fertilize
her egg. We were not successful.
Maysa is
home with us now and she looks good. For 2005 we will try again
to get her in foal to "Ansata
Iemhotep" via embryo
transfer and if successful also breed her to "Farres".
She is a
"one of a kind" mare and we can only hope to be blessed once
more with one of her valuable offspring.
